The ideal scenario for the team is that those who design their parts also create the CAM for their parts, as the best judge of whether or not a manufacturing related change will affect the design intent of the part, is the designer themselves. To that effect, I created 10+ Confluence Pages detailed CNC mill and lathe toolpaths, going into great detail on each specific topic. I essentially made what I wish I had when I started out learning CAM, so newer members can be onboarded quickly.
The topics of the pages include: getting start at the Bechtel Center and Fusion 360, basic milling, lathe, workholding, 5-axis machining, and more. Many of them include detailed photos and GIFs of each toolpath, to get a better visual understanding of what it all means. The pages were recognized by the BIDC staff and are being implemented into their own website for all members on Purdue's campus.
