This ASME B16.5 Class 600 flange is part of the HEAT wind tunnel. It has 2 SAE AS5202-8 fluid ports to route liquid into the tunnel for injection during jet-in-crossflow testing. It has 2 metal o-ring on the backface for sealing and a smooth front surfacef to seal against o-rings on the mating part. It has bolt holes on top for connections to the gantry crane for easy lifting. The bottom also has bolt attachments for feet with linear bearings to attach to the rail. It rests on a rail to allow for thermal expansion during testing. There are a variety of attachment points on the middle to connect various internal components for the wind tunnel.
I fully designed the CAD and GD&T for this part to outsource to an outside machine shop. While I cannot show other, more critical parts of the HEAT wind tunnel, this part serves as an example of the design work I do for this program, and is one of my current main responsibilities on the research group.
